Homelessness Ahead of the Ontario Provincial Election

Listen to our latest episode of Homelessness in Hiding: Our Youth Between the Cracks to discover more about the state of Canada’s homelessness policies and promises made by our very own Canadian leaders, ahead of the 2022 Ontario provincial election.

Host Mya Moniz sits down with Michelle Bilek, National Field Organizer for the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH), an organization with one simple goal–to prevent and end homelessness in Canada. In this episode, Mya and Michelle discuss the present difficulties Peel is dealing with in terms of homelessness and youth homelessness, as well as any current plans of action proposed by Ontario and various paths forward that we would expect from our next elected office.

Michelle takes an educational approach to this topic to help voters get a better understanding about who they’re voting for as she highlights how we can make homelessness a priority for our governments. She also provides information on how individuals can contact members of provincial parliament to ask questions, what questions they should ask, and how to hold politicians responsible for their commitments.

Michelle’s time and participation on the podcast are appreciated by REST Centres, as is the staff at CAEH for valuing that ending homelessness is possible and believing that homelessness in Canada will become rare, brief and non-recurring.

There are five Provincial Parties–and you’d be surprised how many are making it a priority and enforcing promises to end homelessness in Canada. You’ll just have to listen to the full conversation to find out. Subscribe to Homelessness in Hiding: Our Youth Between the Cracks so you won’t miss our newest release.
