About “A Walk In My Shoes” Event

A Walk in My Shoes, is a community Walk-A-Thon and
BBQ event, put on by REST Centres, to raise awareness and funds for youth experiencing homelessness in the Region of Peel by bringing together youth, families, businesses and members of the community.

Come and join us on Saturday August 24th from 11.00 a.m. to take an experiential walk around the track at Central Peel S.S. with youth, clients, and
community members. Bring your friends, family or work colleagues, and expect to have a great time with food trucks serving freshly prepared meals, kiddies’ area, live music, and authentic stories.

This fundraising event is open to everyone. With your help, the goal is to raise
$30,000 for homeless youth in the Region of Peel. So, why not get involved and
participate in the Walk-A-Thon either as a Solo Walker or with your Walkin’ Crew of family, friends or work colleagues, and help to create a safe home for youths in our community.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 at the community BBQ to support homeless youth in
our community.

A donation of $20, $50 or $100 can help keep an at-risk youth off the street and into a safe home.

  • The event is a fundraiser for REST Centres. The registration fee to participate in the walk either as a solo walker or walkin' crew (maximum 10) is $25 pp. Each walker must fundraise a minimum of $125.00. Your registration includes: entry into the "Highest Laps Walked" competition; a commemorative item, and a bottle of water. A t-shirt and a food voucher will be given to participants who achieve the minimum fundraising goal.

    The BBQ is free to attend.

    Rest will be accepting donations on-site at the event.

  • Yes, there will be multiple food vendors offering food for purchase.

  • As a non-profit we are always looking for volunteer support, especially for initiatives such as this event. Please contact [email protected] to coordinate more information.

  • Of course, this is a walk-a-thon AND community BBQ, so come to walk or come for the BBQ part.

    There will be games and live music and we will be accepting donations on site and encourage support if you have the means.
